What is Sciatica?
It is NOT a diagnosis. Sciatica means pain in the leg Pain in the leg (or Sciatica) can happen due to many different reasons and they all present similarly. These reasons include (but not exclusive to:
1- Piriformis spasm
2- Disc bulge
3- Nerve root compression
4- Lumbar stenosis
5- Myofascial tightness
6- Pelvic instability
7- Muscle weakness
8- Facet joint OA
9- Intravertebral foraminal narrowing
10- Osteophyte formation
Common Symptoms:
Pain in the back
Pain down the leg
Pins and needles
Numbness
Weakness in the leg
Depending on the cause of "Sciatica", the treatment approach would vary. A lot of the cases respond well to physiotherapy although in other causes Surgical intervention might be necessary
